Betting on Collaboration

Las Vegas, a city whose very existence relies on the allure of self-indulgence, isn't the first place you'd expect to find evidence of reciprocal altruism. (Had Charles Darwin ever spent a week in Sin City, in fact, he may have completely abandoned any attempt to explain the evolution of our species.)

But signs of mutually beneficial activity were plentiful last week at the In-Store Marketing Expo, where effective collaboration between consumer product manufacturers and retailers was a common theme.

Among other examples, attendees heard Candace Adams, Walmart's senior director of insights and customer strategy, invite product marketers to join the retailer's efforts to "activate" ...More
