Women in P-O-P Nets $103,500 for Charity
The In-Store Marketing Institute announced that the 11th annual Women in P-O-P Benefit to Fight Breast Cancer, held Sept. 28, contributed $103,500 to the Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization.As the P-O-P industry's only charitable event, the benefit has netted more than $1.2 million over the last 11 years to help thousands of women and their families. The donation will help foster Y-ME's mission to provide information, empowerment and peer support so that no one faces breast cancer alone.
Margaret Kirk, ceo of Y-ME, was presented with the check for $103,500 by the 2006 Event Co-Chairs:

- Kathleen Hemphill, Merchandising & Promotion Manager, Jelly Belly Candy Co.
- Dina Howell, Manager, Marketing, Global Operations, Procter & Gamble
- Tammy Castro, Sales, Justman Packaging & Display
- Elizabeth Henschel, Executive Vice President, Henschel-Steinau Inc.
- Anne Gattoni, Vice President, Marketing, Trans World Marketing
This year's benefit, "A Funkadelic Fight Against Breast Cancer," took place at the close of the In-Store Marketing Expo at McCormick Place in Chicago. Women and men representing consumer product manufacturers and leading retailers hosted the evening. More than four hundred guests filled the Lakeside Terrace in celebration and support of the cause. Guests enjoyed an evening complete with cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and live entertainment by disco tribute band The Afrodisiacs.
