What Price, Quality?
The latest survey by WSL/Strategic Retail finds that nearly half (48%) of respondents say they pay more for products that they feel are higher in quality. Not surprisingly, 60% of respondents said they usually pay more for electronics, 59% pay more for computers/software and accessories (Apple enthusiasts anyone?), and 53% of female respondents pay more for cosmetics. As for the opposite end, less than 20% of respondents are willing to pay more for candy, cake, crackers, dessert, bottled water and salty snacks.Nearly 70% of people under 35 years old will pay more for electronics and computers. Across all categories, nothing really changed much in terms of gender, income and ethnicity. The national Internet survey reached 1,500 people from Jan. 22-30. It is part of WSL's ongoing "How America Shops: The Pulse of Shopping Life" report. For more, contact Randi Fater.
