Retail Commission To Deliver Expo Keynote

Delivering insights from major studies and featuring representatives from major brands and retailers, two exclusive keynote speeches are set to open each exhibition day of the In-Store Marketing Expo, Oct. 7-8, at Chicago's famous Navy Pier.

On Wednesday, Oct. 7, executives from Coca-Cola and Supervalu will join Dr. Brian Harris, chairman of The Partnering Group, to discuss progress on the new Retail Commission on Shopper Marketing, made up of representatives from leading retailers including Walmart, Meijer, Walgreens, Food Lion, Marsh, Schnucks, Wegmans and others, along with the In-Store Marketing Institute. The Commission's goal is to establish best practices and guidelines that will let retailers better envision and achieve the full benefits of collaborative shopper marketing, resulting in a comprehensive white paper and corresponding presentation at the In-Store Marketing Summit in April 2010. On Thursday, Oct. 8, executives from Walgreens, True Value and Meijer will participate in a panel with Ken Harris, managing director of Cannondale Associates, to provide an exclusive overview of Cannondale's 2009 PoweRanking Survey. Cannondale has conducted extensive research to identify the traits of successful trading partners and the areas of emphasis that retailers and manufacturers value most. Following Harris's presentation, a question-and-answer session with the retail panel will provide direct feedback on how manufacturers can win in-store and identify areas of future interest for working with them going forward.

The In-Store Marketing Expo officially begins Oct. 6 with select symposiums and carries over the next two days with additional symposiums and more than 30 seminars. The Expo also provides special networking events -- the Women in P-O-P Benefit to Fight Breast Cancer party and the Design of the Times Awards reception -- and an exhibit hall featuring more than 200 retail solution providers. Specialty pavilions on the show floor include Packaging, Digital Signage and the P-O-P Design Pavilion.

The Packaging Pavilion will showcase exhibitors who offer packaging solutions to thousands of consumer packaged goods manufacturers and their agencies, with expertise ranging from graphic design to custom thermoforming to sustainable packaging. In the Digital Signage Pavilion, attendees will find an array of plasma screens, interactive kiosks, checkout displays, digital shelf talkers and other digital signage components, including software and content management systems. Finally, the P-O-P Design Pavilion will feature companies that supply display materials, components and technology for retail -- materials that designers need for their retail displays.
